INTRODUCTION
Electromagnetic spectrum is a continuum of all electromagnetic waves arranged according to frequency and wavelength.
It is divided into seven major regions or bands. A band consists of a range of frequencies in the spectrum in terms of frequencies. The electromagnetic spectrum consists of
- Radio waves
- Microwaves
- Infra red
- Visible light
- Ultra violet light
- x-rays
- gamma rays
The longest wavelength is the radiowave and it contain the lowest amount of energy whereas the shortest wavelength is the gamma rays and it contain more energy.
Production of Electromagnetic Spectrum
Electromagnetic waves are produced when electrically charged particles oscillate or change energy in some way.
The waves travel perpendicularly to both electric and magnetic fields.
Visible light which is found in between have a wavelength between 400-700nm. It consist of the following color spectrum ;
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Indigo
- Violet
