QUALITIES OF A GOOD PPE
PPE should only be used:
- As an interim (short term) measure before controls are implemented;
- Where other controls are not available or adequate;
- During activities such as maintenance, clean up, and repair where controls are not feasible or effective;
- During emergency situations.
A good PPE must:
- Provide adequate protection against the particular hazards for which they are designed
- Be reasonably comfortable when worn under the designated conditions
- Fit comfortably without interfering with the movements or vision of the wearer
- Be durable
- Be affordable
- Be capable of being disinfected
- Be easily cleanable
- Be kept clean and in good repair
